Familiar at the surface.
Rust at the core.

Nmor is an independent, open-source port scanner by Saaim Sohail. It brings Nmap-style command-line patterns to a focused Rust implementation, with practical controls for discovering open ports and inspecting results.

[ 01 ]

Choose your approach.

Run SYN, TCP connect, or ACK scans. Add lightweight banner grabbing to learn more about services on open ports.

-sS   -sT   -sA   -sV
[ 02 ]

Let the rate adapt.

An AIMD controller backs off when reply rates drop. Timing templates and explicit rate limits keep tuning in your hands.

--min-rate   --max-rate

Put results to work.

Readable terminal output for a quick look. JSON, XML, and greppable files for your scripts, records, and workflows.

SYN scan: send SYN probes and classify replies. Requires root or CAP_NET_RAW.

Start with the prebuilt Linux x86_64 binary, or explore the source and build it yourself. The same Linux binary works in WSL2.

  1. Download the release

Get nmor-linux-x86_64.zip from the GitHub releases page.

  2. Extract and install

The installer places Nmor in /usr/local/bin and grants CAP_NET_RAW for raw-socket scans without repeated sudo.

    unzip nmor-linux-x86_64.zip cd nmor_release ./install.sh
  3. Try your first command

Run a TCP connect scan against your own machine.

    nmor -sT 127.0.0.1 -p 22,80,443
Before you dive in

A focused tool.
An evolving project.

Is Nmor a complete Nmap replacement?

No. Nmor uses familiar syntax for a focused set of scanning tasks. It currently targets IPv4, with no UDP scanning, NSE scripting engine, or OS fingerprinting. Banner grabbing is lightweight rather than full probe-database service detection.

Does it run on Windows?

Use the Linux binary inside WSL2. Native Windows support is not available yet, and WSL1 is not supported. macOS is untested. Other Linux architectures require a source build.

Do I need sudo for every scan?

TCP connect scans do not need root. SYN and ACK scans need root or CAP_NET_RAW; the documented installer sets this capability so you do not need sudo for each scan.

Where can I read more or report an issue?

The repository README covers targets, flags, output formats, and limitations. Share reproducible bugs through GitHub Issues.
